Find square footage and square meters for rooms, walls, floors, lawns, and repeated rectangular areas.
The formula
Square feet = length in feet × width in feet × number of identical areas.
Worked example
A 14 ft × 12 ft room contains 168 ft². Two identical rooms contain 336 ft².
Before you order
- Divide L-shaped spaces into rectangles and add the results.
- Measure to the same reference points on every wall.
- For flooring purchases, add the waste percentage recommended for the material and pattern.
